The world famous Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store Restaurant serves three delicious Southern buffets daily with an authentically recreated 1890's Ice Cream Parlor & Fudge Shoppe, charming Southern Gift and Confectionery Shoppe and the convenient Old Country Store "To Go". Voted Jackson's Best Restaurant, the Old Country Store is blessed to celebrate 47 years in business this year. We are so honored our 1890's Ice Cream Parlor has been named one of the Top 50 Ice Cream Parlors in America! Walking into Brooks Shaw's Old Country Store is literally a step back in time to the 1890's. Thousands of antiques adorn the walls, hang from the ceiling, surround you at every step from founder Brooks Shaw's original collection gathered treasure by treasure in the early 1960's from the barns of West Tennessee, back road antique shops all over the South and on Shaw family outings in search of hidden antique gems. He was an American Picker like the TV show except it was for himself. What started as a relaxing hobby soon became a passion and resulted in one of the South's largest private antique collections. We opened in 1965 as an antique museum and grew into a beloved Southern restaurant due to the popularity of our original lunch counter that served Southern favorites. See more details on our "History" page about the one and only Brooks Shaw's Old Country Store. We are proud that the Wellwood country store, where founder Brooks Shaw once worked as a young boy, is now restored and open as a part of our Gift Shoppe. Saved through the efforts of his son, Clark Shaw, it is attached by a breezeway to the Old Country Store it inspired. It is also the studio for world class artisan and wood carver H. Dee Moss and lovingly decorated by Nancy Jane Hall. We are dedicated to preserving Southern history and the Southern food traditions our grandparents loved and cherished. It's our mission to save the historic treasures of our past and our rich culinary heritage for future generations. Relax, play some checkers, time stands still here. Y'all come!
